It's common for people to notice undesirable changes occuring in their bodies as time goes on. While many of us strive to stave off these negative effects of aging, there are a limited number of things that can be done to retain youth in our faces. Face lift surgery offers patients a more rested, youthful appearance, as it subtly lifts sagging, wrinkled skin. The surgery commences with the placement of an inconspicuous incision along the inside of the hairline, and usually wrapping tightly around the ear. Incision placement can vary depending on the extent of surgery being performed.

Once the incision is made, the excess fat is usually removed and the muscles are tightened. The skin is then pulled to flatten and tighten the facial area in question, and improve overall contours and profile. Any excess skin is then removed, and the area is sutured back up. Most Newport Beach face lift surgeons perform this procedure on an outpatient basis under local anesthesia with sedation.

Most Newport Beach face lift patients need bed rest for about a day or two following their surgery, and should continue to take it easy for about the rest of the week. Strenuous activities usually need to be avoided for about 2-3 weeks after the face lift is performed. However, most patients are able to return to work about 10 days to 2 weeks after surgery, or as bruising is sufficiently faded.
